Murder Suspect #1:
Nancy the librarian

NANCY:
If you are foolish enough to ask her for a book recommendation, she’ll hand you something that reads less like a story, and more like an omen. If you catch her smiling at you...it's a warning.

NANCY'S TESTIMONY:

Int - Interrogation Room - Day
INVESTEGATOR
Your Student, Geena, was found dead under the
bleachers with a garrote around her neck. Where
were you at the time of the murders, Nancy?

NANCY
I was cataloging overdue books as I do every
Thursday evening. The bleachers have always
been a place for secrets, haven’t they?

INVESTEGATOR
Listen Nancy...let's cut to the chase – you did it,
we all know you did it, you know you did it. The
garrote was made with book binding materials.

NANCY
I've learned too many valuable lessons from my beloved
books to go Patsy Ramsey on a student with a garrote
made of my own materials.
Beat.
NANCY
You know what's a good book? 'We Have Always Lived in the
Castle.' Just like Merricat, I'd kill with arsenic. You’re wasting
your time if you think I would waste my time killing a student.
I'm a book lover, not a killer.
